Robots have always been held in fascination. But robots, like C-3PO from the Star Wars franchise, Tesla or Rosie from “The Jetson Family” have yet to become commonplace in our lives. But this might all change in the near future. Last week in Las Vegas, this year’s Consumers Electronics Show featured two robotics specialists who announced that robots for private use will soon be ready to hit the shelves. They revealed plans to develop a software program that can transform any basic-functioning robot to be able to become a part of a family.
Famed robotics scientist Bruno Masney and MIT professor Cynthia Brazil have announced that advanced robots will be sent to developers starting this year, while families can expect to see them soon. The MIT professor stated, “robots with social skills can be now made at the consumer price.” But now days TESLA Robots also becoming popular, we will write a new article on them also.
Both are confident of the practical benefit of robots to ordinary consumers. They explain that it is possible because, unlike phones and tablets, robots operate using a completely different set of rules and regulations. Masney demonstrated a telling example of this by showing how his robot-creation is able interact with humans with the use of body language.
Robots are becoming smart enough to read emotions. According to Masney, they can distinguish anger and happiness with 70% accuracy. Add to this the robots’ body language; they feel closer to human beings than mere objects.
During the last 10 years, technological advances in making better smartphones have been applied to robotics in order to produce robots that can, not only move more smoothly and with better accuracy, but interact in a more human-like fashion.
What can be taught to these robots? “Zebo,” for example, can be taught foreign languages, and can also be programmed to help out in preparing and cooking meals.
Masney and Brazil are making efforts to “realize the full potential of robotics to create robots that can become a part of our society.”Masney says that, once this is achieved, we will be able to see robots even more advanced that those from Star Wars in the next 10 to 15 years.
We will also write on Tesla Robots soon.
